Phone sharing is genuinely adequate for a fit, phone-literate adult travelling with people who share their language. It fails for the elderly, first-time and non-literate pilgrims who make up much of a Hajj contingent, and it fails hardest during the specific hours when the risk is highest. For an operator responsible for a mixed group, it is not a system; it is a hope.

- Your group is small, young, phone-literate and shares a language.
- You are travelling as a family rather than running a commercial group.
- Budget is genuinely the binding constraint: free beats nothing, and a WhatsApp group with live location is far better than no plan at all.
