How Hajj works from the UAE
The licensed campaigns are small, well run and expensive by the standards of the large national contingents, and they sell to families who expect the standard of service they get everywhere else in the Emirates. A campaign that can show every pilgrim on one screen, call a pilgrim who has wandered, and hand a family a live view of their parent is selling something its competitors cannot. Safe Daira is sold in the UAE through a local partner at AED 599 including VAT, with type approval filed with the TDRA before the first unit is sold.
The larger market is Umrah. UAE residents go in Ramadan, in the school holidays and on the long weekends, and a great many of those trips carry an elderly parent who has flown in from Kerala, Karachi or Dhaka to be taken. The watch is bought for that parent: fitted at home in Dubai or Sharjah with the family’s numbers already in it, so that in the Haram crowd one press reaches a son standing two hundred metres away.
Risks for a UAE group
Parents on visit visas
Many Umrah trips exist to take a visiting parent. They arrive without a local SIM or a phone that works here; the watch carries its own line, so nothing has to be arranged.
Road trips to Makkah
Families drive through Al Ghuwaifat and across Saudi Arabia, fourteen hours or more. The watch stays on the wrist and on the network for the whole road.
Heat on both sides of the border
Gulf residents are used to heat but not to walking in it for hours. The guide tells pilgrims when to rest; operators who want readings can take the skin-temperature variant.
A premium, regulated market
Campaigns are licensed annually and families expect service. The console’s audit trail and the family app are the standard here, not an extra.
Questions from operators in the UAE
- Is the watch approved for sale in the UAE?
- It is sold through our UAE partner, which files the TDRA type approval and the MoIAT conformity in its name before the first unit is sold, as the regulations require. You buy locally, in dirhams, with a local warranty.
- Does the SIM work in Saudi Arabia as well as the UAE?
- Yes. The watch ships with a roaming SIM that works in both countries, and the first pilgrimage’s connectivity is included in the price. After that it is AED 29 a month or AED 249 a year, only for the months you need it.
- Can I buy it in Dubai for a parent who is flying in?
- That is the usual case. Buy it, put the family’s numbers in through the app, and hand it over when your parent lands. It needs no local SIM and nothing to set up, and it works on the drive or the flight to Makkah.
