The short version
This site sets no advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers and no marketing pixels. It stores two small preferences in your own browser, and it runs one analytics measurement that counts page views.
What we store in your browser
These are stored locally by your browser and are never transmitted to us:
- safedaira-theme: remembers whether you chose the light or dark appearance. Stored in localStorage until you clear it.
- safedaira-banner-closed: remembers that you dismissed the announcement bar, so it does not reappear on every page. Stored in sessionStorage and cleared when you close the tab.
- sd-chunk-retry: a temporary flag used to recover cleanly if a page fails to load part of itself after we deploy an update. Cleared immediately after use.
None of these identifies you, and clearing them costs you nothing beyond having to pick a theme again.
Analytics
We use a single Google Analytics 4 measurement to count page views and understand which pages are useful. It records the page visited, an approximate country-level location derived from your IP address, and general device and browser information.
It also counts a small number of anonymous interactions, such as whether a reader switches the map on the journey page to satellite imagery and how far through the stages they read. These say which parts of the site earn their place. They carry no location from your device and nothing you have typed.
We have not enabled advertising features, remarketing, audience export or Google Signals on this property, and we do not link it to any advertising account.
If you would rather not be counted, browser-level tracking protection, an ad blocker or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on will all prevent it, and the site works identically without it.
Third parties
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google’s font servers. That request necessarily includes your IP address. No cookie is set by it.
There are no embedded videos, no social media widgets, no chat widgets, no A/B testing tools and no session recording on this site.
How to clear all of it
Clearing site data for safedaira.com in your browser settings removes everything described on this page. Nothing will break; the site will simply forget your theme preference.
