- Do pilgrims need smartphones?
- No. That is the entire point of the band having its own SIM and its own battery. Smartphones are only needed by group leaders running the console and by family members at home who want the app.
- How is this different from a GPS tracker bought online?
- A consumer tracker gives you a dot on a map for one person. What an operator needs is forty people ranked by who is in trouble, escalation that reaches the leader standing nearest, perimeter alerts per stage of the rite, and a record afterwards. The hardware is the small part.
